Plumed Whistling Ducks
These distinctive and for me, unusual ducks just flew in for a visit. they were all bunched up together on the lagoon.
They have amazing feathers and are really cute.

My friend has this beautiful orchid sitting on her verandah. The color was really striking.

Four fat ibis walking up a branch…

A lot of pressure on number one to keep on going

Oops gone.

Not too far, just flew away.

Spring and summer was a wonderful time with so many birds nesting along the creek. Here are two that have had their young ones and left the nests.

Up close it doesn’t seem all that soft and comfortable.

Today is the first day of Autumn in Australia. Where I live it is still quite warm. These roses were blooming beautifully during the summer.

almost blown off their perch by the wind. The feathers were flying wildly. They did well to stay balanced on the log.

When the wind dropped I could see that they were actually ducks.

I suspect these two on the waterlily are young corellas.

Met this chap on the road as I was driving home from the bus stop with my grandson, aged 10. I was teaching him how to use the camera with the BIG lens. He was in the front seat had it balanced on the window ledge. He was enjoying taking pictures of the ducks on the lagoon and really enjoying taking pics of the neighbour’s chickens as we went by. I told him to keep a lookout for interesting shots and I couldn’t believe my eyes when we came across this goanna. By the time I slowed and stopped the car the goanna was taking off back into the bushes. I managed to grab the camera and take a shot through the windscreen, but he was too quick and it was a very awkward angle. To tell the truth, I was hesitant to get out of the car in case this rather large creature came towards me rather than moving off! The other pics were too blurry. Now I know where he is, I’ll keep looking hoping to get some more shots.

I think this is a white necked heron.

I went to this spot a few kilometres from my house, looking for a duck or two to photograph. I’d found them there before. But on this particular day the ducks were nowhere to be found. Instead some cows were having a bath!
Are you looking at me??

Where’s the soap?

I’m staying dry
