Couldn’t miss this bird when I stopped in Patchewollock, Northern Victoria, Australia. He was in a beautiful red flowering gum. I think he’s a Spiny Cheeked Honeyeater???
Petunias in winter

There was a really lovely community garden that I spied while travelling around. It was some quirky art work that drew my attention, but I was amazed by the variety of plants were quietly growing. I had the impression that school kids might have been involved. I was delighted to spot some petunias growing there, in the middle of winter.

Stayed overnight here. Chilly, no power for the heater, but a really wonderful place. Even in the middle of winter.

I can remember when this salty lake in the middle of nowhere was quite a wild and remote place to be. I haven’t been there for many years, since my husband raced buggies around the dunes. It looks like it has been revamped for the tourist market. And there were a few tourists discovering it.

I spotted this old fella in a field on a very wet and miserable day. He wasn’t about to be doing much at all, just lying around conserving his energy. He captured the mood (pardon the pun) of my day.
