The storm is coming

The chooks certainly knew something was up. The guinea fowl were roosting high in the trees making a lot of noise and the flag looked a lot worse for wear. We were lucky, just lots of noise and lightning, and steady rain. My sister who lives more to the south came home to a flooded lounge and kitchen,

Still hot

It’s still hot in my part of the state. They say maybe some rain tomorrow or the next day. Hard to believe. There aren’t many flowers in my garden ay the moment, but here’s a lovely weed.

Still 40 plus centigrade

That’s 40 plus outside. One of the benefits of my new shop is the air conditioning. Maybe today I had it on too high, because the theme seemed to be ‘cold’. To while away my time, (between the Covid scare and the blistering heat there were vey few customers wandering around), I made some little creatures to add to the collection, 2 tiny penguins and a fox.

Baby water hen.

We have lots of these Purple Swamphens that wander around the farm and on the waterways. I’ve never gone looking for their nests or bothered to look for the babies. This baby is black and I found it, by accident, using the big camera lens. I thought the water hens looked lovely, so I decided to take a few snaps. It wasn’t until I focused the camera that I noticed the black shape. I waited until I could get them all into the photo.
