Butterfly or moth?

Caught this little guy sitting on my felt hat!

Today was hot and humid. Most of the wildlife was quietly at rest, finding places to cool off. The pelican seemed happy just to cool off in the shallows.

It took me a while to realise this cockatoo was sitting above in the leaves just keeping an eye on me.

The duck also happy to sit around in the lagoon.

The turtle was just surfing, waiting for a wave that wouldn’t eventuate.

The hawk was just not bothered and keeping a wary eye out.

I wonder what this conversation is about….

The fuzzy bird is the young one demanding food from a parent.

Please, come on, hurry up, I’m starving.

What’s this all about?

Such a sweet young thing.

These gorgeous little ducks were at a weir close by the farm. I think they are Australian Wood Ducks.

An Australasian Darter

Found a Grevillea (please correct me if I’m wrong) on my wanderings and loved its flowers. Loving the spirals here.

Stand up properly, someone is watching.

Let’s just go for a swim.

Turn around and jump in too.

He might have long legs but his wings are also impressive.

I heard them before I saw them, two little birds safely high up in a gum tree. No wonder they’re called Noisy Miners.

What a cute little pair.

I wonder what they were saying to each other.

Yes they are really good friends

I finally managed to capture a bee-eater in flight. These two got my attention. One would fly off, presumably to catch a bug, and then return to the other. Maybe it was feeding it because they seemed to share the food. After a while I realised that if I just waited and held my breath, with my finger on the button, eventually I might be able to catch one in flight.

Needless to say, I have many pics of a single bird, having been too slow or simply missing my chance. But I’m so pleased to have these.
