Just along the track I found a few more ducks. They are also way too beautiful to be shot for ‘sport’. It is against the law to shoot this species. I hope the shooters will respect the law.

Sorry guys. Keeping your heads tucked away won’t save you either.

Can you spot the odd ones out?

Duck shooting season is fast approaching. I hate it. These ducks are so defenceless. They were in an area that can be seen from the road and that makes them an obvious target when the season opens. Poor little things stand no chance.

Flying off interstate would be a better idea.

Instead they’re hanging around, even perching in trees, oblivious.

A few days ago I posted up a picture of the palm tree in front of my house. Click to see. Now, look at who has found it.

Not just one, but a whole flock of them, and they can be very destructive.

I have to admit though they can be rather beautiful.

If they knew duck shooting season was coming soon, they’d fly away..

These two below are lazily perched up high, surveying the scene

I must have scared him off! So pleased the camera caught him at just the right moment.

He’s probably just a starling but in the sun, his feathers were shining. really pretty. He as so shy he kept behind the branch, so I wasn’t able to get a good snap of him.

Mr Personality

I wanted to take photos of this little fella, but I think he spotted me and flew off. I think he’s a white faced heron.

His legs are long, but his wings are even more impressive.

A more unusual angle.

A while back I posted pics of a nest of baby birds. One is still a regular visitor here. Follow the links to see the baby Darters
More photos of the darters. When they were very young. and the rest of the family.
They certainly change over time.
